Neutering

Neutering is done under general anaesthesia. The main goal is to prevent reproduction, although there are many other reasons why it might be recommended.

Spaying is a routine surgery that involves removing the ovaries (and sometimes the uterus) under general anaesthesia. This means that the females will no longer have heat cycles and will no longer be able to breed. We also prevent potentially fatal diseases, such as reproductive and mamary tumors and uterine infections (pyometra). Castration is a routine surgery, the testicles are removed and testosterone levels decrease.

Spaying is a routine surgery that involves removing the ovaries (and sometimes the uterus) under general anaesthesia. This means that the females will no longer have heat cycles and will no longer be able to breed.

  1. No heat cycles  Unspayed female dogs go into heat every 6 months and it lasts 2-3 weeks. You won't have to worry about blood spotting everywhere.
  2. When dogs are in heat, all contact with unneutered male dogs must be avoided. You will be able to walk your dog without worrying about her getting pregnant.
  3. Prevention of psychological pregnancy.
  4. Reduced risk of mammary tumors:the most common type of cancer in dogs.
  5. We eliminate the risk of ovarian cancer
  6. We eliminate the risk of pyometra (womb infection)
When should I spay my dog?

In the case of female dogs, if they are spayed before the second heat cycle, we minimize the risk of diseases that can develop throughout their lives. Therefore, we recommend doing the surgery when they are between half a year and a year old.

  1. Castrating our dog will prevent him from running away when there is a female dog in heat.
  2. Reduction of aggression towards other male dogs.
  3. Preventing testicular tumors.
  4. Preventing prostatic hyperplasia.
What's the best age to neuter my dog?

We recommend neutering the dog when it has finished growing, but without leaving it until unwanted behaviours have become habits. Small-breed dogs can be neutered from 6 months of age and large-breed dogs around one year of age.

  1. By spaying, your kitten will not have heat cycles.
  2. Your kitten will not be able to get pregnant.
  3. We will prevent it from suffering from ovarian and uterine diseases and mammary tumors.
  4. We also reduce the risk of becoming infected with very serious viruses, such as feline leukaemia and feline immunodeficiency.
At what age should I have my kitten spayed?

We recommend to spay them before they reach sexual maturity, ideally when they are 4-6 months old.

  1. Prevent it from running away to find females..
  2. Prevent urine marking inside the house.
  3. We reduce the risk of becoming infected with diseases, such as feline leukaemia and feline immunodeficiency virus.
